JAMB Spends N397m on Staff Transportation for 2025 Mock UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has allocated a whopping N397,030,900 for staff transportation to ensure the smooth running of the 2025 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This significant investment covers transport allowances for 1,909 officials who will be involved in the exercise, set to hold on April 10, 2025.

During a crucial meeting in Abuja on Monday, Mufutau Bello, JAMB’s finance director, revealed that this amount is just the first tranche of payments.

According to Bello, it accounts for one-third of the total officials participating in the mock examination.

He emphasised the critical role of this preparatory test, stating that its success is vital for maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s education system.

“The reputation of JAMB and our tertiary education system hangs in the balance,” Bello warned.

He stressed that any shortcomings in the mock UTME could have serious repercussions, potentially undermining public trust in the examination process and the broader educational framework.

In response, JAMB staff assured their commitment to delivering a seamless and effective examination, both for the mock and the main UTME.

The meeting also tackled ongoing public concerns about local travel allowances, clarifying that misunderstandings often arise due to the complex logistics required to organise a nationwide examination.

Bello and his team explained that the extensive planning and coordination needed to conduct such a large-scale event across Nigeria demand substantial resources.

From transporting officials to ensuring they are well-positioned at various centres, every detail counts to guarantee fairness and efficiency.
